Publishing Your Website on Notion?
Have you ever thought about publishing your website on Notion? Over the years, people have used Notion for more than project and knowledge management.
Thanks to Notion's simplicity, intuitive web editor, and building blocks concept, users can go from idea to execution in minutes. Over time, this trend has grown, leading companies like Raycast to use Notion for their publishing capabilities, such as fully developing their user manual in Notion.
Notion has noticed this trend and decided to enhance the experience with their new feature release, Notion Sites.
What is Notion site and why should you care?
First of all, nothing has changed regarding how you create a site in Notion. It's still as simple as creating a document and hitting the share button. What has changed is the layout of the share modal, which now includes new features specifically for web publishing, such as custom domains, navigation, and a site design editor, which we will explore below.
Additionally, there’s a dedicated menu in your settings & members section where you can see an overview of all your sites across your workspace. Here, you can see the status of each Notion site, which Notion page it is linked to, and the domain name, which can be updated.
It’s worth noting that you have the ability to add up to 5 Notion.site in the editor.
The site design editor
A new modal has been introduced with the new features specifically for web publishing:
The ability to set your website to default to either light or dark mode, unlike before when it would switch depending on the user’s operating system theme.
A new custom heading section where you can add Notion pages as your navigation links. Currently, you can’t add external links; only link Notion pages inside the page.
A website Favicon that can be either the standard emoji or a custom one that you upload.
Google Analytics to optimize the SEO on your Notion Site.
Search engine optimization
The ability to rename the title of your website as it will appear on Google, as well as customize the description. Making it more attractive and relevant to potential visitors.
Note: these features and Notion Sites are not available on the free plan; they are only available for the Plus, Business, and Enterprise plans.
